RE: BEE Social Group, Lafayette, LA Meeting LA LA

Welcome Jean and Jan, we now have 22 rigs signed up and I know of a couple of more that have told me they will be attending. This is getting to be a very big Social Group.
The more the merrier!

RE: BEE Social Group, Lafayette, LA Meeting LA LA

The reason I have not been in contact before now is: "We was blown out of town!"
After Gustav hit on Labor day, we were out of power for four days and I said, Time to hit the road. We left for 2 weeks and just got back Friday.
No structure damage, but some trees down and we have been cleaning that up.
We have plenty of firewood that will be well seasoned for the Social.

RE: BEE Social Group, Lafayette, LA Meeting LA LA

We ate lunch there the day we went to the CG. The food was good, but a little on the fancy and expensive side (I thought). It is the closest to the CG, but I thought we would check out some places in Breaux Bridge where the places tend to be a little more "down home".

RE: BEE Social Group, Lafayette, LA Meeting LA LA

I doubt it would be Kershaw. There are hundreds of Cajun bands in the area that play at the different restaurants. They are all good, or they don't get asked again.
Even if we find out who is playing now, it may be someone else in April.

RE: BEE Social Group, Lafayette, LA Meeting LA LA

Depending on what people would want, we could find out what was available. The reason I suggested the restaurant, was everyone could order what they wanted. They usually have "Al E." on the Appetizer section of the menu. I will check on a couple of places and see if they have their menu's on the web.
I don't think the cost would be that different between on site or the restaurant.
The coffee is taken care of, we only serve Community here, as I said earlier.

RE: BEE Social Group, Lafayette, LA Meeting LA LA

Welcome, Bob & Jane, now there are 15 rigs, 29 LIVE ones!
I am going to ask the CG to hold 30 spots for us until April 1, 09. If everyone is not signed up by then, they will just have to take their chance.
Question for the group: :@ Since everyone may not want to eat crawdads, crawfish, mudbugs. etc. I was thinking of making a reservation at one of the restaurants that played Cajun music, and then everyone could order what they want. Wednesday the 22nd?
The other option is to have a caterer come to the CG and do the mudbugs.
What say You?? :h

RE: BEE Social Group, Lafayette, LA Meeting LA LA

Just in case you think all the talk about Al E. Gator is just talk, read these:
Louisiana boy's arm bitten off by alligator
SLIDELL, LA (AP) - Sheriff's deputies say an alligator has bitten off an 11-year-old boy's arm in Louisiana. Deputies say Devin Funck was playing in a neighborhood pond in a subdivision about 20 miles northeast of New Orleans when the alligator pulled him under. The alligator was described as...

Alligator disrupts traffic on I-10
LAPLACE, La. (AP) - State police say an alligator that somehow got into the eastbound left lane of Interstate 10 on the Bonnet Carre Spillway was hit by a vehicle and slowed traffic to a crawl. Troopers say the alligator was still alive and a nuisance officer from St. Charles Parish removed it...

Right now, we have 13 people signed up. We have 30 sites open now and they said that they would make as many as we need. If we get more than 30, I will talk to them again.

RE: BEE Social Group, Lafayette, LA Meeting LA LA

As far as I am concerned, anyone can come to the Social. We had no restrictions at NE NE, and none here.
I went to the campground before I posted the site. It was a FEMA site used for the people that lost their homes during the 2 hurricanes in '05. They have done lots of upgrades and are in the process of doing more which will be finished by the time we get there.
It is very quiet and only about 2 miles from I-49 and 4 miles from I-10. The city of Lafayette is on the south side of I-10 with plenty to do. AND plenty of places to EAT!!
